Welcome to Surrey Hills Mindfulness

Mindfulness and mindful self-compassion courses

Surrey Hills Mindfulness runs courses and groups to support you in developing your mindfulness practice whether you are a beginner looking for an introductory course; you want to explore a particular area such as self-compassion or mindfulness for pain or you want to refresh your skills.

Mindfulness is the practice of bringing awareness to our experience.  It is a natural skill which we can develop through training our minds with simple and straightforward techniques.  Cultivating mindfulness can reduce stress and anxiety, increase clarity of mind and a sense of wellbeing.  It can enhance a sense of enjoyment and fulfilment, stability and peace of mind.

Self-compassion is learning to relate to ourselves as we would relate to a dear friend, without harsh self-criticism or ignoring our emotional needs.

Over thirty years of scientific research have shown that practising mindfulness can bring a wide range of physical and psychological benefits and an impressive body of research confirms the benefits of self-compassion.

Mindfulness courses run by Surrey Hills Mindfulness are based on the most popular Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) courses. Self Compassion is taught through the Mindful Self-Compassion programme. Other courses include the Breathworks training in mindfulness for pain and long-term conditions. Groups are currently run online.
