8 week Mindfulness Course

This group course is based upon the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and the Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Course (MBCT) developed by Oxford Mindfulness Centre. 

Each session runs for 2 hours via Zoom to allow plenty of time for practice and discussion.  An important part of the course is the home practice. There are two pathways through the home practice, one requires 20 minutes practice per day and the other requires 40-60 minutes of practice each day.


The course covers all of the skills you need to develop your own mindfulness practice.  It teaches simple meditation techniques and follows themes to explore habitual patterns of thought and behaviour.  The structure of the course leads participants step-by-step so that strong and flexible understanding and skills can build week on week.  Weekly notes and audio recordings and also provided.

The Spring course will run on Thursday evenings 6.30pm - 8.30pm

The Summer course will run on Wednesday mornings 10.30am -12.30pm

Retreat Days

Retreat days are run regularly.  If you have previously attended an 8 week course with Surrey Hills Mindfulness or with another mindfulness teacher you can attend a retreat.  Please register beforehand here

Follow on Course

This course is designed for those who have already completed an 8 week mindfulness course who would like to restart, refresh or deepen their mindfulness practice.

The course will have 6 two hour lessons with teaching, meditation and group discussion. The format will be similar to the 8 week course you did.


The course will cover themes such as  self compassion, gratitude, dealing with difficulty, how to keep our practice going and mindful living. 

The cost of the course is £120 (generous concessions for those on low income-please ask). The course will run
via Zoom on Wednesday mornings 10.30am - 12.30pm starting 15 September.
